Zoo Med Eco Earth Coconut Chips 500gr

Zoo Med's new Eco Earth Coconut Chips is a natural coconut substrate made from an environmentally friendly, renewable resource.
The material is highly absorbent (holds up to 8 times its dry weight in water!) and retains that moisture well.
It slowly releases it to create a moist, tropical environment perfect for a variety of different reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.

This substrate works well as a stand-alone substrate for moisture-loving species and for humid microclimates, but can also be used in bioactive substrates.
When mixed into a bioactive soil mixture, the coarse pieces provide better aeration, prevent compaction and provide drainage, all of which are beneficial factors for live plant growth and cleaning staff health.

Coconut Chips last a long time and are naturally mold resistant, so you don't need to replace them often.
After use, this product can be safely composted and reused in potted plants or gardens!

  • Natural coconut substrate made from an environmentally friendly, renewable source
  • Great for bioactive and naturalistic terrariums
  • Coarse pieces increase aeration, resist compaction and provide drainage
  • Long-lasting and naturally mold resistant
  • Absorbs and retains moisture (up to 8X its dry weight in water!)
  • Use for reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.

Directions for use:

To use, soak the brick in a bucket of water for about 30 minutes.
Break apart and squeeze the remaining chunks to remove excess water.
Add the expanded product to the terrarium or mix it with other substrates to create the perfect substrate mixture.
Clean the substrate daily and replace it completely every 3-6 months or as needed.

Once the substrate is set out, you can let the coconut chips dry for use in drier environments.
Keepers can control moisture levels by misting or adding water as needed.
