ReptiBlock Microchips bedding from Reptiglobe is a premium coconut bedding for reptiles, amphibians, insects and other pets. A 100% natural substrate that is completely safe for use in a terrarium, paludarium or tub tray & drawer system. Can also be used for bioactive terrariums with or without plants!

All coconut bedding is made from the pod of the coconut. When the pod is still a green fruit, the fruit is manually removed around the nut. The remaining husk is a leftover after harvesting the coconut fruit.

The leftover (pod) husks are the basis of our ReptiBlock Microchips bedding! After the pod is separated from the nut, it is manually cut one by one, with the position of the blades (between 2 - 6 mm) determining the size of the coconut peat. The cut green peat now forms the base of our ReptiBlock Microchips bedding where solar radiation help to dry the peat.

In a time lapse of 4 to 6 weeks, the peat turns from green to orange/beige. In this face, the coir peat is still young and soft in texture and forms the excellent base for our ReptiBlock Microchips bedding. Because the coco peat bedding is packaged at a younger stage than comparable brands, the bedding can still release 100% natural dyes Tanines into the drinking water, should it end up in the water bowl (obviously not harmful when drinking).

Once the coir peat is sufficiently dried, the chips are washed three times with clean/clear fresh water. Washing reduces the dust present to the minimum and lowers the salt content in the ReptiBlock Microchips bedding . After it is washed, the product is dried again to then sieved twice with a drum sieve and a shaker sieve.

The sieved coconut peat is now ready to be manually measured and pressed together to make our ReptiBlock Microchips bedding.
