The Arcadia ShadeDweller 2.5% UV Lamp, 14 Watt is designed using the very latest German lamp technology.

A standard output T5 lamp that draws only 14 watts, but is more than twice as bright as our 8 watt ShadeDweller lamp. This increase in brightness or "lumen output" covers the entire spectrum of the lamp, even UV. To achieve the target UVI of 1.00-1.50 at 30 degrees, this smart lamp requires only 2.5% UV-B within the lamp's total spectrum.

So, if you are wondering why the ShadeDweller 8w lamp has 7% UV-B and the ShadeDweller-Max has only 2.5% UV-B, to achieve a very similar result, this is your answer, the lamp itself is more powerful across the entire spectrum of the lamp, so to achieve optimal UVI at the target distance the percentage of UV-B is reduced, however, the resulting UVI is very similar in both cases.
