UV lamps generate heat, light and ultraviolet light from a single lamp, so you don't need to buy separate lamps to manage all of these essential factors for reptile care.

Not only are these Arcadia D3 UV Basking Lamps able to create a warm and bright environment for desert reptiles like bearded dragons. These lamps also provide a healthy dose of UV light, essential for the absorption of vitamin D3 into your reptile's body, allowing them to make the best use of the calcium in their diet to grow big and strong, Without an effective UV supply, your reptile is at risk for metabolic bone disease.

The average life of a D3 UV Basking Lamp is approximately 6,000 hours or 8 months of continuous use. However, when combined with an effective terrarium light controller, which you turn on and off regularly to create an appropriate temperature gradient, we expect the lamp to last a year or more.

Mercury vapor lamps are exactly what they seem, glass bulbs filled with mercury vapor that project a full spectrum light. Mercury vapor lamps are safe when kept intact, given adequate space and hung in a vertical position. The vertical position allows convection currents to circulate within the lamp, extending its life.

Like all mercury vapor lamps, they cannot be used with a thermostat or external ballast and should only be used in large enclosures or open tables.
