The Tropical woodlice (Trichorhina tomentosa) are fascinating little creatures that serve both as food animals and as terrarium and paludarium clean-ups . Let's discover a little more about these interesting creatures:

• Characteristics:

  • Tropical woodlice can be recognized by their white armor.
  • They need a very high humidity to survive, so they are not suitable to live outside the terrarium.
  • In the terrarium, they accumulate under a leaf layer, where poison dart frogs search for them throughout the day. This contributes to the frogs' natural behavior and provides additional exercise.

• Care:

  • They thrive at temperatures between 18 and 26 degrees Celsius.
  • Feed them a varied diet, including animal proteins such as fish food, dried crayfish, shrimp and snake feathers.

Tropical woodlice are not only a useful addition to terrariums, but also a great educational tool. They keep the ecosystem tidy and contribute to the well-being of other terrarium inhabitants
